Yes I know your thinking not another weekend away, but this is also from 2011 trying to fit it before it runs out.

I won a weekend away to The Vineyard, Newbury. It wasnt until we was there I realised that Beth still had my camera, so piccys not that good.

Well it certainly lived up to their website.

The front of the hotel

Our room 🙂

Stuart was treating me to a spa treatment, which I chose a massage but it wasnt until 5.30pm, and as we hadnt eaten we went into town.

It was a lovely high street and we found West Cornwall Pasty Company

We both chose a pasty and it was massive lol

So after a walk around the town, we headed back for my spa treatment, and boy it was so relaxing, putting me in the mood for an enjoyable evening.

We went down about 7pm for pre dinner drinks, now there was loads of cocktails and hard to choose! In the end we both had mojitos, stuart had an original and I had champagne 😀

Dinner menu was a nightmare too many choices but in the end we chose the 5 course tasting menu with out wine £79.00!!!! So glad it was included in the win.

The butter had sea salt in it, eeek I am allergic to salt so we had to ask for plain salt as well.

We opted for a nice rose wine to have with dinner.

Confi of duck fois gras with grilled peach and red chilli – it was alright, nothing really to shout about, probably because I am not keen on peach, it was very rich.

Scallops, oops I forgot to take a piccy but they were lovely, juicy and melted in your mouth!

Pan fried red mullet, very nice

Aberdeen Angus Steak, I am not really a ‘red meat’ ‘steak’ person, and to be honest wanted to save room for dessert, so Stuart had most of this meal, I did have a mouthful and it was cooked to perfection, melted in your mouth.

Strawberries my favourite fruit!

Well after all that I was full…

We explored the hotel abit and found the most amazing wine cellar!!

We both had a lovely night.

So the next morning, it was breakfast..

Stuart opted for a full english breakfast

I had a mushroom omlette and it was massive!

After breakfast we decided a walk was needed, so we drove into town where there was a farmers market and paused to watch the swans.
